Aspirational Swedish outdoor brand now available through the Glenbrae website

Ivanhoe is one of Sweden’s most highly respected and oldest knitwear companies and Spectrum Yarns is proud to be the exclusive distributor for Ivanhoe clothes in the golf sector throughout the UK and Ireland.

Ivanhoe was founded almost 80 years ago in the village of Gällstad, southern Sweden, by Martin Göthager and remains in the same family which has now reached its third generation.

This high-performance clothing is designed and tailored for the Swedish climate which isn’t too dissimilar to that of the UK. This means the garments can withstand all seasonal fluctuations while keeping you comfortable and warm.

The wool Ivanhoe uses has reached a new level of sustainability with a range of natural colours that don’t use dyes, chemicals or water so it’s 100% environmentally friendly.

Many Ivanhoe garments are knitted with Lycra so they stretch as your body moves for ultimate comfort.

We’ve selected the very best from its range for Spectrum customers so you can order direct from us online. This includes men’s and women’s ranges and the choice features sweaters from zip necks to sporty hoodies, windbreakers, gilets, jackets and coats.

The garments come in a striking range of designs and colours which complement the rest of Spectrum’s product portfolio.

The Ivanhoe story began in 1946 with a focus on knitted fashion for women under the name Gällstads Ylle but when it expanded into sportswear it changed its name to Ivanhoe and became a particularly familiar sight taking fashion, style and warmth onto the ski slopes.

In the beginning of the 1980s the company was taken over by Martin’s three sons Lars-Erik, Ulf and Göran Göthager, and they ran the business for more than 30 years. It’s now managed by Göran’s three children, Anders Göthager, Anna Göthager and Karin Sjögren.

The knitting department in Gällstad remains at the heart of the business where around 90% of this work takes place, driven by a profound passion to produce the finest woollen garments in Sweden and beyond. Ivanhoe also has its own design and sample department, embroidery service and a sewing department.

The company has an annual turnover of £4.6m and employs 11 people.

Ivanhoe has just appointed a new Chief Executive, Susanne Gräsberg, who is committed to sustainability and focussed on enhancing the business’s e-commerce potential.

She says: “Wool is a material of the future with its sustainable properties. The textile industry is undergoing significant changes, especially with the European Union introducing stricter regulations.

“Producers will need to consider the entire life cycle of their products. Transparency will be crucial and this will benefit us as we produce garments from natural fibres with most knitting done in our own factory in Sweden and assembly in the Baltic states.”
